Is it time to recalibrate what to expect from a corporate campus? Join us in an engaging discussion led by two experts: Tracy Wymer, VP Workplace at Knoll and Michael Pittman, VP of Marketing and Communications at The Research Triangle Foundation of NC. Tracy will share insights from a recent publication that explores the roots of information age campus planning from Silicon Valley to Research Triangle Park, and how to improve it. SPUR, the urban research think tank and policy group in San Francisco published “Rethinking the Corporate Campus” from a multi-disciplined task force that Tracy participated in. Specific Bay Area policy recommendations will share a historical perspective, move to transit centric development, and navigate the impact as the workplace and the public realm intersect. Michael will share local examples of RTP companies like IBM and RTI, that are rethinking their corporate campuses to attract and retain talent and to create conditions more conducive to innovation.

Tracy D. Wymer, Vice President Workplace leads investigative workplace research focused on client and product applications. The teams work focuses on the study of the workplace, understanding trends in the emerging workforce and the ability to translate those needs into specific plans. The approach specializes in discovering links between real estate strategies, theory, and practice. He emphasizes understanding customers’ workplace goals and meeting them through tangible products, resources and information. He is also a member of the Knoll product development team. Tracy oversees Technical Resources and TRMedia. These teams provide specification, product, rendering and multimedia support for Knoll customers. Tracy joined Knoll in 2002. Prior to Knoll he managed the Bay Area office of SPaCE, a workplace strategy based interior architecture firm, and spent 13 years at Bundy & White, a firm he co-founded. There he advised Fortune 500 companies on product design, packaging, user interface, exhibition design, brand identity and the adaptive workplace. He also served as the Director of Industrial Design at the Academy of Art University (San Francisco) and taught an immersive course at Stanford University. Tracy earned a B.S. in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati and did graduate studies at San Francisco State. Tracy was a competitive sailor racing classic wooden boats on San Francisco Bay, a former professional chef, and most actively the father of fourteen year old twins. He lives in San Francisco.
Michael Pittman, VP of Marketing and Communications, The Research Triangle Park
As Vice President of Marketing & Communications, Michael leads all aspects of the Research Triangle Foundation’s marketing and communications efforts. Working with an internal team, agencies, and strategic partners, Michael is focused on telling the story of The Research Triangle Park and promoting the innovation that occurs from its companies. He is responsible for increasing RTP’s marketability and global brand awareness while adding value to all RTP assets.
Michael brings over 15 years of marketing and digital media storytelling experience to RTP. Prior to joining RTP, he created and led marketing and branding campaigns for Citrix and Red Hat and also produced interactive websites, apps, and exhibits for major museums and universities such as the Baseball Hall of Fame, the National Archives and the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Michael graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives near downtown Durham with his wife, son, and daughter.
