Technology advances have been slow to be adopted by practitioners in the CRE arena. Observing other industries, there are numerous possibilities for the great advances in enabling technologies to simplify CRE functions, have more efficient processes and increase productivity. Interoperability between diverse technologies and management information systems has created new and emerging CRE and FM possibilities that were not considered possible only a few years ago.
Keeping up-to-date with emerging technologies and planning appropriately, investing in the right technologies, using the right technology and analysing the right balance of data – not too much nor too little – requires the ability to see possibilities, business acumen and wisdom. It is apparent that the fully integrated single source of truth technology solution is not the only future. Simple intuitive Apps performing single specialist functions are just as likely to have a significant impact on the CRE and FM industries.
