The speaker for this event is Dr Rick Ede, Chief Executive of Unitec. This is a parallel journey to the one that is being undertaken in many corporate workplaces today and raises the significance of place in the context of the functions of a contemporary organisation.

Dr Rick Ede has been the Chief Executive of Unitec Institute of Technology in New Zealand since April 2008. He is the founder of NZED, the consortium of New Zealand Institutes of Technology and Polytechnics formed to grow New Zealand’s international delivery with partners abroad

He is passionate about the transformative power of education. He has been instrumental in shaping Unitec into an institution that delivers world-class vocational and applied professional education and training built on a foundation of work-integrated learning. He is committed to fostering community and industry engagement by building innovative relationships and working with local and international organisations on development opportunities. As a result of this focus, Unitec now has three Fortune 500 companies, and two of New Zealand’s most respected companies, collectively employing over 300 students from the IBM/Concentrix Delivery Centre located at Unitec’s Mt Albert campus in Auckland.
