Meet the Panelists
Norma Miller, formerly of City of Seattle, Starbucks and Gates Foundation will moderate the panel.
Norma retired from the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation in 2016, after nearly forty years leading a variety of Seattle governmental, non-profit and corporate operations. At the foundation, Norma directed their Global Facilities, Events, and Travel programs, opening and operating their new Seattle campus & Visitor Center and overseeing international and domestic expansions in all of these business services during a period of rapid growth.
Kate Freels, Associate Partner at ZGF, will discuss big box retail to health care reuse
As an Associate Partner and Architect at ZGF, Kate leads projects ranging from academic and healthcare facilities to mixed-used high rise and multi-family housing developments. She brings expertise in working closely with project stakeholders to carefully blend key components of a client’s vision with programmatic and community needs, guiding teams in the creation of thoughtful, nurturing, and highly-functional spaces and buildings. Kate is a CREW member and will be joining the Seattle & Sound chapter’s Board of Directors in 2018.
Josh Khanna, Senior Manager of Real Estate Services at Expedia will discuss Expedia’s reuse of old lab facilities into corporate offices in Interbay
Josh Khanna joined the Corporate Real Estate team in 2014 and is the Regional Lead for the new Expedia, Inc. headquarters being planned in Seattle, WA. Her responsibilities include the site development and construction, and campus master plan and delivery. Previously, Josh was the Regional Lead for the Asia Pacific region for Expedia, Inc. She has 15+ years’ experience in domestic and international corporate real estate including planning, strategy, design, construction, and facilities coordination.
Elizabeth Grace, Associate Partner at ZGF will discuss Expedia’s reuse of old lab facilities into corporate offices in Interbay
Elizabeth is an architect with over 22 years of experience on a variety of project types including; workplace, mixed-use, hospitality and higher education projects. She relishes complex projects in urban environments and the challenges that adaptive reuse brings. Over her career she has been responsible for all phases of project development from master planning, conceptual design and pre-design studies to design development and construction administration. Elizabeth has worked with a wide range of clients to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
Brett Phillips, Director of Sustainability at Unico will discuss the upcoming transformation of Grand Central from office to multifamily housing
Brett Phillips is the director of sustainable real estate and renewable energy for Unico Properties, managing high performance green building and renewable energy projects for Unico’s real estate portfolio and third-party clients. His responsibilities include setting high performance design and operations standards, reducing company-wide energy and greenhouse gas emissions, investing in renewable energy, and promoting sustainability to industry and government leaders.
