While physical buildings are still been built with largely traditional methods, the design process is changing rapidly. Augmented Reality and Digital Design providing opportunities for end users, designers and engineer to interact continuously through the design process with the future building, providing a more informed decision making, better understand and visualization of the product, and accelerating the a continuous feedback loop. This session will explore and present current trends and opportunities Augmented Reality presents, as it is entering our daily life.

Andrew Tognela
Microsoft

Andrew Tognela has been with Microsoft for almost 20 years and is currently driving the HoloLens and Mixed Reality for the North America market. Within Microsoft he was previously served as General Manager for our Dell Computer relationship and Global Business Manager for ExxonMobil, worldwide managing director for banking and capital market and Chief of Staff for Microsoft’s Chief Operating Officer.

Andrew started his career at Shell Oil Company, held the role of Director of E-Commerce Systems at SciQuest Corporation and Services Principal within IBM Global Services. He earned a MBA from Wake Forest and BA in Economics from San Diego State, after serving in the Military for 3 years.

 

James Vandezande
HOK

James Vandezande, Senior Vice-president and Director of Design Technology at HOK is registered architect. He has worked on a wide variety of projects, ranging from high end residential to mega transportation projects. Prior to HOK, he worked at SOM implemented building information modelling (BIM) on projects such as One World trade Center.

James is considered a pioneer in the field of BIM and has lectured at many industry events and is an adjunct professor at the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies and NYU’s Tandon School of Engineering. He holds a leadership role on the BIM Forum in the development of National BIM standards.
