Ever wonder how a case is won – how facts are proven? Join CoreNet and SmithGroupJJR for this exclusive opportunity to tour the state of the art San Diego County Crime Lab before they begin analyzing and processing evidence in Summer 2018. The facility was designed by SmithGroupJJR and built by DPR Construction. It is one of the newest and largest resources for the San Diego Sherriff’s Departments’, which is currently one of the largest law enforcement departments in the U.S.

The LEED Gold Crime Lab features advanced tools and techniques within a secure environment that has enough floor space for nearly three professional football fields. It will house about 200 employees and is designed to support the existing functions of the San Diego Sheriff’s Office departments, while also remaining adaptable for future technology and departmental needs.

The proximity between the departments will enhance collaboration and communication, which are essential for successful criminal investigations. Besides giving the technicians who currently process DNA evidence, firearm ballistics, latent fingerprints, and other clues to help solve crimes a new work space, the state-of-the art facility will also have offices for approximately 75 detectives and include the Sheriff’s Department property and evidence locker as well.
