A Fireside Chat with Coach Jennifer Azzi: on Inspiration, Team building, and Motivation

Moderated by past president of CoreNet Northern California, Sandy Heistand.

An inspirational keynote by Jennifer will be followed by a personal chat with Sandy Heistand about team building, motivation, and personal joy. The audience will then have a chance to ask questions during the Q & A period.

Jennifer Azzi, Head Coach at The University of San Francisco cultivated her love for basketball growing up in East Tennessee.  She attended Stanford University, and enjoyed a 13-year professional basketball career.  She is an Olympic Gold Medalist, NCAA Stanford National Champion and WNBA all-star. In 2009 she was inducted into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame, as one of the greatest players to have ever played the game.  She is the youngest inductee ever in the Stanford Hall of Fame.

Following her basketball career, Jennifer became an international Ambassador and Spokesperson for the NBA and WNBA, coaching and hosting events all over the world, including Basketball Without Borders Africa and leading the first ever clinic at the White House.  Jennifer has been to the White House on four separate occasions, meeting with three different presidents.  George Bush Sr., Bill Clinton and Barrack Obama.

Through her sixth season as head coach at USF, Azzi has transformed the women’s basketball program there into a bona fide postseason contender. She helped lead the Dons to their fourth NCAA tournament berth after knocking off the Nos. 3, 2 and 1 seeds in the WCC Touranment, respectively, to earn the league's automatic berth to the Big Dance.  Last season, Coach Azzi led USF Women’s Basketball to the win the WCC Championship and to the NCAA Tournament for only the 4th time in the history of USF Women’s Basketball.

Most recently, her community involvement has been seen through the NBA Cares program, partnering with the Golden State Warriors and other notable Bay Area figures to open two "Live, Learn and Play Zones" in East Oakland to serve area youth.

Off the court, Jennifer has applied her knowledge of health and wellness to create Azzi Training, a program focused on total health and life balance.
