EVENT DESCRIPTION
Buildings today need to be about more than just great design. Companies are prioritizing smart environments for their employees that leverage technology to better support and drive interactions, both across their organization and beyond. This panel will explore how tools and analytics are being deployed to make workplaces more engaging and productive in today’s digital age. Panelists with technology, corporate, and design perspective will explore strategies global companies are using to lead the charge in building innovative workplace environments and tactics to create compelling and smarter workplace experiences!

Catherine Carlock, Real Estate Editor, Boston Business Journal
Catherine Carlock, moderator, is the real estate editor of the Boston Business Journal an award-winning business journalist. A native of Richmond, Virginia, Carlock arrived in Boston just in time for the record-breaking winter of 2015 and is responsible for covering all aspects of Greater Boston’s commercial real estate industry. She makes frequent appearances on New England Cable News. Prior to arriving in Boston, Carlock covered real estate for the Triad Business Journal in Greensboro, North Carolina for four years. As a student, she interned at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, The Charlotte Observer, CNBC’s “Mad Money with Jim Cramer,” The Virginian-Pilot and MarketWatch.com. She is a graduate of Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia with a degree in journalism and English. Outside of work, Carlock enjoys training for half-marathons, exploring the New England region and searching for Boston’s best lobster roll.

Dr. Ben Waber, CEO and Co-founder of Humanyze
Dr. Ben Waber is the CEO and Co-founder of Humanyze, a people analytics company that measures communication patterns to help companies answer specific business questions around organizational design, workforce planning, and regulatory compliance. He is a visiting scientist at the MIT Media Lab, previously worked as a senior researcher at Harvard Business School, and received his Ph.D. from MIT for his work with Alex “Sandy” Pentland’s Human Dynamics group. Waber’s work has been featured in major media outlets such as Wired, The Economist, and NPR. He has consulted for industry leaders such as LG, McKinsey & Company, and Gartner on technology trends, social networks, and organizational design. His book, People Analytics, was published by the Financial Times Press in 2013 and he has taught People Analytics courses both domestically at MIT as well as internationally.
Peter Cavanaugh, Ecosystem Transformation Leader, General Electric
Peter Cavanaugh is the Ecosystem Transformation Leader for GE. Peter leads the cross-functional, adaptive team responsible for guiding the development of GE’s Boston Headquarters. As the company focuses on becoming a premier digital industrial company, his group ensures alignment between the urban complex and GE’s core beliefs and goals. During the comprehensive Boston Civic Design Commission approval process in 2016, Cavanaugh spoke on behalf of GE at numerous public hearings and meetings. In his previous role at GE, Peter spearheaded the integration of content, experience, and environment for the Crontonville experiences worldwide to build skills and maximize impact on GE culture.
Todd Dundon, AIA, Principal, Gensler
Todd Dundon has more than 25 years of professional experience working closely with companies, real estate owners, and developers to maximize the design value of their real estate portfolio. With a focus on campus and building architecture, Todd works under the premise that good design can optimize organizational performance. His recent and current projects include Partners HealthCare’s administrative campus in Somerville, building repositioning projects with Rockpoint Group and Oxford Properties, and GE’s Innovation Point in Fort Point Channel. Todd holds a Bachelor in Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning.
