On behalf of the CoreNet Global Midwest Chapter, we extend a warm welcome to an exciting New Year.  January may be one of our coldest months but it is also a month of new beginnings, and this is always exciting.  As I write this letter the sun is shining brightly.  I am reminded of the warmth of the many friendships we enjoy as a result of the individual and collective investment of our time in the chapter.  Thank you to each of you for this and we want to encourage those who have stood on the sideline to become more involved in the year ahead.  It is through committee involvement that relationships are best created.  These relationships are the key ingredient to helping each of us grow our respective businesses and grow our leadership skills.  As much as we all enjoy CoreNet, it is the business relationships that will keep us involved in the future!

As the Chapter President this year, I am truly honored to be a part of an organization that has continued to benefit me over my career.  I want to extend a special thank you to the 2020 board and in particular to Melissa Jancourt who provided admirable leadership during a tumultuous year.  Melissa’s leadership was tireless and unwavering and for that, we are thankful.  Please reach out to Melissa when you have a chance so you can thank her for her efforts.  I also want to extend a sense of gratitude to those who have committed to the board in 2021 and to providing leadership to their respective committees.

In addition, I would like to extend a special thank you to the Awards Gala Committee who pulled off a fantastic year-end event.  There were a number of people who worked to make this event a success.  Extended congratulations go out to our award winners and these will be posted to our web site and shared on social media.  We heard many positive comments about the actual event and we raised over $3,500 for our community partner, RTTC- Rebuilding Together Twin Cities.  This was a record contribution for our chapter!

As we start the year, I am happy to report the chapter is in good financial standing and finished in the black for 2020.  2021 will present it’s own challenges but we commit to being financially prudent and doing our best to finish in the black for the new year.  Thank you to our sponsors who provide primary financial support for our chapter.  Because of your support we are able to provide excellent programming for our members.  We consistently hear the education value of our programs are the best in the corporate real estate industry.  Our program committee is committed to continuing this legacy in the new year.  For now, we will continue to provide programs via the web, at least through the first quarter of this year.  We remain hopeful that the vaccine will be widely distributed in the months to come and group in-person meetings are encouraged once again.

Here is to a great year ahead because of each of you.  We look forward to your continued involvement in the chapter this year!

Respectfully,
Jeff LaFavre, CCIM, MCR
