Speakers will identify agile strategies to meet evolving needs and outcomes with applicability for other service providers and end users. Topics include (i) the impact of post-pandemic workplace strategy trends and RTO on the Washington DC community/market, (ii) the ability of GSA to reinvest in and adaptively reuse an owned portfolio including historic properties amidst a massive deferred maintenance pileup, (iii) meeting ambitious decarbonization and sustainability objectives, and (iv) federally driven “placemaking” case studies like the Dept of Transportation HQ in DC’s growing Southwest market.

Occupiers and Their Impact on Communities:  The Amazon Story Continued

As Amazon concluded its HQ2 search in 2019, Holly Sullivan, Amazon’s Director of Global Economic Development, spoke to a packed house at our ERS in Boston, MA. Fast forward to 2023, and Holly returns to the ERS as Amazon’s Vice President for Worldwide Economic Development to reflect on the outcomes and learnings from the two-year site selection process as well as Amazon's thoughts on the importance of community engagement from companies when investing in a location.

In a fireside chat format, Holly will provide an inside look at the challenges and success of the HQ2 process and will discuss the current status of construction at the company’s headquarters in Arlington, VA. In addition, Holly will discuss the company's global job creation efforts, the rationale behind the creation of their 18 North American Tech Hubs, and more. Holly will share how she applies lessons learned and how Amazon is integrating changing global business paradigms into their real estate and location decisions.
