Leadership 2.0: Enhancing Leadership Skills

The New England Chapter of CoreNet Global is committed to advancing the work of corporate real estate professionals as they strive to fully support, improve and enhance their company business goals and objectives. Many CRE professionals including corporate end-users and service providers, seek to improve their skills and competencies by attending education events, workshops, programs, symposiums, and summits. The Chapter now offers Leadership 2.0, a program that is focused on professional development intended to better position CRE professionals to advance their careers.


What is Leadership 2.0?

The L2.0 Program provides CoreNet Chapter members with advanced leadership skills, insights, and tools to lead their respective organizations into the future of work and push their own careers to the next level. The program will expose participants to a range of thought- provoking discussions and learning opportunities in the courses as set forth below. The L2.0 Program provides intimate learning and networking opportunities with established corporate real estate executives and best-in-class executive coaches.


Who Should Apply?

Leadership 2.0 will be limited to 12 - 16 participants who will be selected through an application process.



You do not have to be a member of CoreNet New England, prior to the date of application, however, we ask that you join CoreNet formally upon selection to the program. If you are a graduate of the Young Leaders Professional Development Program, you must be a 2019 graduate or earlier.

*It is not a requirement to have also graduated from the Young Leaders Professional Development Program.


You should apply if:

  • You have +/- 10 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry or are currently working in corporate real estate with +/- 10 years of relevant
  • You are currently responsible leading people and/or have a strong desire to lead
  • You’ve reached a career plateau and are ready to enrich your skill set in order to
  • You believe that we never stop learning!


At the end of the program, the participant will “graduate” and will receive a Certificate of Completion. The cohort will also be recognized at the Annual Meeting typically held in March.


This is unique opportunity to learn from top leaders in a small group setting. We can’t wait to see what you can achieve!

The Leadership 2.0 Application and the 'Get to Know Me' Template are due by July 8, 2022, at 5:00 pm EST via email to Karyn Houde at Khoude@bermangrp.com, cc: Jill Blanco at jblanco@bermangrp.com.  Please  take the time to review the application and the requirements for a completed application.

No late applications will be accepted. Questions should be directed to Laura Walsh, co-chair of the   L2.0 Committee at laura.walsh@avid.com. Applicants will receive decisions by July 22, 2022. If selected, participants will be required to attend the mandatory kick-off session in  September. This session is planned to be in person at McCarter & English in Boston at 265 Franklin Street.

Time Commitment and Program Fee

Participants must commit to actively participate in eight sessions and a final case study presentation to be completed over a six-month period. Programs are planned to be held in the afternoon for 2-3 hours at host companies who are current Sponsors and Corporate Partners.  The program fee for Leadership 2.0 is $2500 and is due prior to the first session. 

Current 2022-2023 Program Outline (subject to minor modifications):

Session #1: September 2022 | Caliper Assessment and 1:1 Executive Coaching Sessions (will be scheduled ad hoc with individual class participants and held virtually)

The Caliper Profile is an objective assessment that accurately measures an individual’s personality characteristics and individual motivations in order to predict on-the-job behaviors and potential. Scientifically validated by nearly 6 decades of research, the Caliper Profile measures 22 robust traits and offers local norms for several countries. The assessment data can be utilized throughout the employee lifecycle including selection, development, promotion, team building, and succession planning.


Session #2: September 22, 2022 | Know Thyself – Turning Insight into Action

Topics:  There are lots of ideas out there on what makes a good leader. Charisma, confidence, sense of urgency, creativity, humility. However, in observing the most engaging and effective leaders over time, there is one factor that matters most – self-awareness. Being a successful leader is less about personality traits and more about knowing yourself well enough to adjust your behavior as needed to achieve the optimal outcome. This session will build on the deepened self-awareness obtained through the personality assessment feedback by helping participants turn their key insights into sustained behavioral action.


Sessions #1 & #2 will be led by Vonda K. Mills, Ph.D. an independent consultant who partners with organizations and individuals to increase leadership effectiveness and create a culture of development. Her main areas of focus are executive coaching, leadership development, and talent management.


Session #3: October 2022 | HR Panel – The Art of Mastering Difficult Conversations

Topics: Discuss and develop effective approaches with the goal to turn a challenging situation into an opportunity to make a significant change impact.


Session #4: November 9, 2022 | Driving Results through Effective Communication

Topics: Real World Examples of Effective Storytelling, Developing your Pitch, Reaching your Audience

Session #4 will be led by Victor Vizgaitis, Principal, Chair of Architecture and Interior Design at Sasaki and Erica Wagner, Vice President, PepsiCo Global Real Estate


Session #5: December 2022 BONUS PROGRAM TBD – Class will be surveyed to provide input on potential on topics of interest


Session #6: January 11, 2023 | Equitable Leadership

Topics: This workshop will highlight a rich, foundational understanding of DE&I and what it means to operationalize DE&I as emerging leaders.

Session #6 will be led by Dr. Dwinita Mosby-Tyler who is the Chief Catalyst and Founder of The Equity Project, LLC – an organization designed to support organizations and communities in building diversity, equity and inclusion strategies and The HR Shop, LLC - a human resources firm designed to support non-profits and small businesses. Dr. Mosby Tyler, is a consultant accredited by the Georgetown University National Center for Cultural Competence and recipient of the Cornell University Diversity & Inclusion certification, is nationally recognized for her equity work with non-profit, community, government, and corporate organizations.  


Session #7: January 2022 | Showing up as a Leader – Part 1

Topics: Management vs. Leadership, Relationship Building, & Creating Your Circle of Influence

Session #8: March 2023 | Showing up as a Leader – Part 2

Topics: Executive Presence, Presentation Skills Workshop


Sessions #7 & #8 will be led by Liz Brunner the CEO and founder of Brunner Communications and best-selling author of Dare to Own You: Taking Your Authenticity and Dreams Into Your Next Chapter, recommended on Forbes. Prior to launching Brunner Communications in 2013, Brunner served as a main news anchor and reporter at ABC-TV, WCVB NewsCenter 5 in Boston. Liz leverages her more than 30 years of media and communications experience, expertise, and leadership, to help individuals and organizations build meaningful reputations and powerful brand identities within their markets.


Final Session: March 2023 | Final Presentations/Case Studies
