Carole Maret
Carolinas Chapter Young Leader, & Young Leaders Co-Chair for Charlotte

Tell us a little about your current role.
Currently, I am the Young Leaders Co-Chair for CoreNet in Charlotte. I am involved in planning the Young Leader sponsored events, something I have been involved in for the last 5 years.

Why were you interesting in getting involved in CoreNet?
I moved to Charlotte almost six years ago and didn’t know a soul here. I knew the business, but I didn’t know the people. I wanted to find a group with which I could jump in feet first and grow my business. CoreNet has helped me with this tremendously.

What keeps you up at night?
I am always thinking about what I can do different. How I can change a design in a space? How I can expand my net within accounts? How I can get more business? I do a lot of thinking at night!

What three words embody your personal brand?
Genuine. Loyal. Positive.

What is the one app you can’t live without?
AcuWeather! I always need to know what to wear!

How do you spend time outside of the office?
Anything outdoors. Traveling. Dinner with friends. Church. Volunteering my time. Reading. Napping!!

What are the key relationships that have mattered most?
The relationships with my teammates and my boss are very important to me. I think success starts from within. If I didn’t have the cheerleaders I have within my company, I wouldn’t be able to do what I do.

What are the main sources of support or resistance your encounter?
My main sources of support would be my team and my boss. I am having a hard time coming up with resistances I encounter. It’s all circumstantial really. Depends on the client. Depends on competition.

What would you say most motivates you to do what you do?
I like seeing spaces evolve. I love seeing a client go from an environment they have been in for 30 years to this brand new beautiful space. It's so exciting to see the transformation. The hard work that leads up to it is also invigorating.

What is it like to work in your particular location?
It’s fantastic. I love Charlotte. Such a great city and growing daily. Moving here was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

What are your career prospects?
My career prospect is quite simply to be the best Carole I can be. I can’t win every piece of business, but what I can do is mean a lot to the people I do business with. That’s most important to me.

How did you come to be in your current role?
My degree is in Interior Design. I have been in furniture for 16 years. While I was in college, I worked in a furniture store and I grew into the role of being on the commercial side of the business. I always knew I wanted to work with large companies.

Are you able to work on large scale projects?
I love working on large scale projects, so yes!
