About ERS

What is it?

The Eastern Regional Symposium (“ERS”) was established in 2003 and is attended by 400 CoreNet Global (“CNG”) members from the six “host” chapters: New England, Connecticut Westchester, New York City, New Jersey, Philadelphia, and Mid-Atlantic.  This CoreNet Global multi-chapter program was developed to promote education and networking within the Eastern Region. The annual symposium adds value to a CoreNet Global membership by sharing Corporate Real Estate (“CRE”) strategies, broad global and regional interest issues, and best practices, and by expanding relationships within the regional network.

Promoted as a “Members Only” event, our primary audience consists of corporate real estate executives involved in strategic workplace and portfolio planning, location selection, real estate negotiations/transactions, and facilities management for end users/ companies. Additional attendees include service providers such as architects, real estate brokers, consultants, economic development officials, and building owners.  Approximately 10-20 students and faculty attend from the host university and other chapter partner universities in the eastern region.  Total attendance is limited to 400 people and full attendance has consistently been achieved for each Symposium.

The intention is to build a Symposium that focuses on a theme that will attract many end-user members. The topics and speakers are carefully selected by senior corporate real estate executives and recognized service provider thought leaders who are asked to participate on the ERS Learning Advisory Board. The Board reflects the participation of all chapters in the Region.

The typical ERS model differs from CNG Summits and learning curriculums such as MCR courses and Leadership Training or chapter-organized networking and educational events.  Aligned with host Universities, learning programs and networking events occur over 2 days and include components consisting of general sessions with noteworthy speakers and content of broad interest, breakout sessions directly focused on corporate real estate issues, strategies, and tactics, tours of local projects of interest and a young leaders forum. In addition to real estate practitioners, speakers have included authors, university faculty and staff, and thought leaders on a variety of topics.  Additionally, the first evening is capped off with a premier end-user-only and ERS sponsor dinner.

Why Attend?

The Symposium offers unparalleled learning and networking opportunities through two days of educational programming, keynote addresses, expert-led panel discussions, property tours showcasing highly-anticipated real estate developments in the host city, and exclusive members-only networking events.

Who can attend:

ERS is a learning symposium and networking event for members of CoreNet Global’s northeast chapters. End-user members historically make up 50% of the attendees. The remaining 50% are our sponsors and service providers. Young Leaders and student members are also encouraged to attend. The northeast chapters are Mid-Atlantic, Philadelphia, New Jersey, New York City, Connecticut/Westchester, and New England Chapters.

How big is this event:

ERS welcomes 400+ attendees to two days of cutting-edge learning programs for CREs at every professional level. Content-rich presentations and topics delivered by respected and renowned speakers, exciting real estate tours, and interactive networking and social events including the End User Dinner and Young Leaders Breakfast Program are not to be missed.

Programming:

Many volunteers, speakers, and sponsors make ERS one of the most respected and unique CoreNet Global learning events. We rely on The Learning Board, a group of experienced, volunteer CRE professionals, representing all 6 chapters, to develop compelling and timely topics for each year’s general sessions and panel presentations. We rely on the Host City Committee to develop our “must attend” real estate tours and create a memorable experience at our End User Dinner. Our Young Leaders develop their learning/networking program, always well-attended and highly relevant to emerging CRE professionals.

Cost:

Registration fees remain affordable due largely to the support of our sponsors - many of whom renew their participation year after year. Registration scholarships for End Users and student members may be available from your local chapter. Contact your local chapter administrator for scholarship and financial assistance details if applicable.
