To be able to report metrics by business unit, portfolio segment and region so that the metrics can be used to provide information for individual decision makers and stakeholders and for comparison to similar property types and geographic regions

Benchmarking


The ability to compare the metrics to internal and external benchmarks by having generally-accepted definitions and categories, such as the IFMA/BOMA space measurement standards, OSCRE Total Cost of Occupancy standards and OPD (Occupiers Property Database) standards
Trends

Trends – The history of a particular set of a data element (e.g. Rent) or metric (e.g. Cost per person
Forecasting
Forecasts – The prediction of how a certain metric or data element will move over time – e.g. an estimation of how a building’s operating costs will change over the coming year
Capital Costs


Cost – The expenses for operating a real estate asset (rent, property taxes, utilities, maintenance, security, etc.) or investments made to real property (either capitalized or expensed).   Metrics examples include Operating Cost/person, Operating Cost/Square Foot, Investment/Square Foot
Capacity



Capacity – The quantity of business activity that can be supported out of a given real estate asset or assets.  Could include number of people that can be supported at a location, the amount of a certain type of space, or the physical qualities of the site (e.g. manufacturing or warehouse throughput, data center power limits)
