2014 Holiday Party

On a cold and snowy January night over 120 members and guests gathered at Townhouse Restaurant & Wine Bar for the annual CoreNet Holiday Party. Thankfully, everyone received the memo that, “the venue had changed” and arrived in style. But then again, when the event boasts beverages and is known for artfully selected food, the CoreNet crew typically shows up in full force and on time!

Townhouse was pumping with excitement, drinks, laughter and cheer. The bar was stocked and waiting to serve. The food was dancing through the crowd for all to enjoy. As is with many events, attendees find their group of comrades and locate a good “spot” i.e. close to the bar, on the path of the hors d'oeuvre tray service, but away from the front door and slightly nestled into a corner so as not to get bumped. If they are lucky, they also find a table to stand next to so that they can set down their drink (primarily to be able to pull out a business card for the “BCED”: Business Card Exchange Dance). Then the individual who wants to meet more people dances his or her way from 4-some to 4-some making careful to not spill their drink or elbow anyone. This year … was a little bit different:

Attendees were greeted with a new twist this year: An interactive game, which would result in the winner going home with an I-pad Air! The goal was to meet new people and find out interesting new topics. A sheet of “facts” was given to each person as they walked in the door; all you had to do was fill in the blanks with the correct name on the list of 15-20 topics. Did you know that Pat Turnbell is an award winning Author or that Jonathan Bifro has run the Chicago Marathon? If you weren’t at the party, you will never know which CoreNet member was All-American in Track & Field, on Archery in college or participate in Extreme Make-over Home Edition…

Membership has its privileges and so does on-time renewal. One lucky member who had already renewed their membership, was randomly selected to win Chicago Bulls Tickets. Renew your Global membership before the end of January to be placed in a raffle for Concert Tickets (Paul Simon / Sting) and a Spa trip at the Kohler Spa in Wisconsin!

As the night was still going strong at 7:30pm, the open bar was extended an additional 30 minutes for all the revelers to enjoy. Another January, another post-holiday celebration, another time to enjoy all that CoreNet has to offer. See you at the January 21st Young Leader’s event at Quartino’s!
