September 13, 2022 SEPTA's Transit Expansion: A New Vision for King of Prussia

On September 13th, CoreNet Philadelphia hosted a dynamic discussion between Jody Holton—Chief Planning & Strategy Officer at SEPTA—and Eric Goldstein—founding President & CEO of the King of Prussia District—regarding SEPTA’s exciting King of Prussia Rail Project which will extend the existing Norristown High Speed Line (NHSL) 4 miles into King of Prussia (KOP).

With the addition of KOP Rail to SEPTA’s transportation network, Greater Philadelphia Area commuters, shoppers, students, and visitors will have access to frequent and reliable service between Center City, University City, and King of Prussia. This rail extension will achieve a variety of important community and transportation goals. It will stimulate 5.3 million square feet of new development, create 8,000 permanent new jobs, and increase property values across the region. KOP rail will reduce traffic congestion and travel time and improve regional air quality as a result of fewer miles driven and reduced engine idling.

A big thanks to our speakers, Jody & Eric, as well as David Niles for moderating and Kershner Office Furniture for sponsoring this great event!

April 22, 2021 Repurposing Existing Buildings to Fulfill New Needs

On Earth Day, April 22, we appropriately held a panel discussion on adaptive reuse and examined two Philadelphia projects along with a Mall conversion to medical use in Nashville, TN. The panelists were Joe Ritchie who took us inside the conversion of the Bulletin Building into Life Sciences space for Spark Therapeutics; Ned Edwards who led the effort to convert the Philadelphia Armory on Drexel’s campus into the finest squash facility in the world and Lorie Damon who provided great insight into the Nashville Mall conversion.

Attendees were able to learn what to look for in an adaptive reuse project and some of the keys to a successful project. Images of the projects were shared so that all could get a visual of the before and after view. Thanks to our sponsor IMS Technology Services , the committee members and especially our panelists for an interesting discussion.
