A MESSAGE FROM JOSÉ ONCINA
Dear CoreNet Washington State Chapter Members,
I am honored to serve as your Chapter President for 2021. Working with the Board of Directors and our Committees, my role is to help you get the most from CoreNet.
My experience with CoreNet for over two decades is that I’ve only scratched the surface of the benefits membership provides. From research to education, networking to career advancement, there is so much to benefit from. Just imagine if you could discuss a pending issue with folks who may have faced a very similar challenge, and learn from their successes and mistakes. How cool would it be to learn about different roles in the corporate real estate industry that you never imagined existed, or how about sharing your knowledge and passion with a young professional that soon enough you will want to recruit into your team? These are opportunities provided by CoreNet. The only effort it takes to enjoy these benefits is to engage “Show up!” The more you engage the more you benefit. If you are an end-user member, join the End-User Task Force and help drive the agenda, if you are passionate about specific topics engage with the Education and Programs Committee, and if you’re an expert who wants to share your special knowledge raise your hand!
2020 was a year like no other. For an organization that thrives on face-to-face connectivity and interaction, the impact of the pandemic could have been existential, yet people in this profession are flexible, adaptable, creative, innovative, and optimistic. We came together in many venues but CoreNet provided a platform for sharing, experimenting, and learning, through trial and error, how to pivot from real estate, facilities, and workplace solutions to productivity, health, and fitness solutions. In retrospect, it’s a wonder how we came together to get the job done and set the path for continued improvement and collaboration. In a significant way, CoreNet, you, and me the members, through collaboration, made it easier to pivot and contribute to our companies revised operating models. Yes really! Give yourselves a pat on the back!
Well, going into 2021 we still have a pandemic, and the challenges aren’t going to disappear overnight, but we have learned much, we have developed new valued relationships and we are stronger for having persevered. This will help us and we confidently move forward. The Chapter is planning to continue to lead and facilitate meaningful and valuable events with relevant topics and knowledgeable resources, virtually at first and hopefully, soon, we’ll be able to toast to our health face to face. We will ramp up our focus on End-User only events and integrate a sense of Diversity & Inclusion in all that we do, and with your help, facilitate more connections amongst members.
Thank you again for entrusting me to lead this organization in 2021. Let me know what you want to see more of, what you rather see less of, and most importantly get engaged and help make our profession better.
Senior Managing Director, Savills
