Conventional
workplaces involve a high number of private offices with a relatively
low number of collaborative places. Given how our agency culture has
evolved as we’ve broken down the traditional hierarchy to encourage
collaboration across all departments – both offices and at all levels –
we needed a space that reflected a new paradigm of workplace. So we
flipped the script, which resulted in a space reduction from three
floors to two floors and yielded significant cost savings, while still
providing increased meeting and collaboration areas, more natural light
and color, and a healthier work environment. The 14th and 15th floors
have been completely transformed into a more open,collaborative,
sustainable space with new workstations throughout, and the design
incorporates the residential concepts of a living room and a family
room… employees who need a break can take one of our skateboards or
bikes for a ride around the office, challenge each other to a game of
ping pong, or play Nintendo Wii or Kinect for Xbox. On Friday
afternoons, they don’t have to leave the office to enjoy happy hour
because they can grab a beer at our BevBar.
