CORENET GLOBAL UK SUPPORTS THE BRITISH COUNCIL FOR OFFICES' "WELLNESS MATTERS" RESEARCH PROJECT & STAKEHOLDER CONSULTATION

How to 'Deliver Health & Wellbeing' within the workplace is a major initiative for the CoreNet Global UK Sustainability Community. Earlier this year we hosted a highly successful round table event at Standard Chartered Bank called 'Delivering Wellbeing'. The event was attended by over 80 end user and service provider stakeholders.

At the event the British Council for Offices (BCO) Research Group Chairman, Bill Page, formally announced a major BCO research study 'Wellness Matters: Health & Wellbeing in Offices and what to do about it'. He also announced that CoreNet Global UK, as the 'Voice of the Occupier', had been invited to collaborate on this project. Naturally we are very keen to support the BCO's efforts and would like to encourage as many of our UK Chapter members to participate.

The Wellness Matters Project

The year-long project will provide definitive guidance on how to enable office Health and Wellbeing across a building’s lifecycle.

The study will critique existing Health and Wellbeing measurement and certification, identify the most recent and relevant medical evidence justifying a proactive approach to Health and Wellbeing in the built environment.

Most significantly, this research will deliver a practical guide to creating a healthy environment across the different stages of a building’s life cycle, from design, construction and leasing to the most important aspect by time and value: occupation and asset management.

CoreNet Sustainability Community's work on Health & Wellbeing will inform on the final research output. However the final Road Map needs to be relevant to all stakeholders across office building life-cycles so industry feedback and individual perspectives are essential. CoreNet Global UK on behalf of the BCO Wellness Matters Team would therefore welcome your input.
