NYC's Greener Greater Buildings Program - Details of the newly enacted laws

The Learning Committee of CoreNet Global NYC Chapter will present a luncheon workshop on New York City's Greener, Greater Buildings Plan. The workshop, led by representatives from the Mayor's Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability and the New York City Department of Buildings, will focus on the city's 4 energy efficiency bills which were recently passed by the City Council: Audits and Retro-Commissioning Bill;  Lighting Upgrades and Sub-metering Bill;  Benchmarking Bill; and New York City Energy Conservation Code Bill.  The presentation also will include their impact on the Building Code and Commercial Buildings in NYC.

The event will be held Thursday, April 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Empire State Building, 350 Fifth Avenue, 61st Floor (Registrants must use the W34th Street entrance).

Speakers include:

Ms. Beber helped develop the Greener, Greater Buildings Plan, a package of legislation to address energy efficiency in existing buildings.  She also participates in and assists with the management of the Green Codes Task Force, a technical group that works to identify impediments and propose improvements for green building in New York City's construction codes.

Deborah Taylor
, Chief Sustainability Officer, New York City Department of Buildings
Ms. Taylor will speak on the national, state and local context for energy and carbon emissions reduction, and more specifically on the New York City Energy Conservation Code and its accompanying compliance rule, both to take effect on July 1, 2010.  She will also address further mandated amendments to these regulations for energy conservation.
