Members Find Value in Northern California Young Leader Mentorship Program
This program provides an opportunity for Young Leaders (protégés) to interact with accomplished CoreNet Global leaders (mentors) on a one-on-one basis outside of general Chapter events. Each of the protégés are matched with two mentors and are encouraged to interact with each mentor twice during the year. Mentors from such companies as Adobe, Union Bank of California, Salesforce.com, CB Richard Ellis and AT&T have participated in previous years.
In addition to fostering relationships between Young Leaders and seasoned leaders in the Bay Area’s corporate real estate industry, the program increased participation of Young Leaders in the Northern California Chapter of CoreNet Global and fostered their general professional development. The feedback we’ve received from participants indicate that they found great value in this program, and we believe that other CoreNet chapters could benefit from learning about our experience. In addition, have collected some protégé and mentor quotes which might enliven the story further:
“I found the Mentor program extremely helpful in developing my network within CORENET. My mentors did an excellent job of introducing me to fellow members at meetings, as well as to their industry contacts. I also found the input from these senior leaders to be very helpful, as they provided great ideas on various ways to help develop my career.” -Chris Lunny, Protégé
“…Without question, the best part was meeting with my protégés over coffee, talking together and exploring where I might be able to help them with their career development. I learned a lot from them, enjoyed the process and would highly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in helping develop very talented young people in our industry.” -Linda Jansen, Mentor
“I highly recommend participating in the CoreNet mentorship program. It has been a great experience sharing ideas with and receiving feedback from the top real estate executives in the Bay Area. Their knowledge and wisdom within our industry is invaluable, and interacting with your mentor allows for a greater understanding of real estate trends, other companies within the CoreNet network and related sectors of the commercial real estate industry.” –Becky Zegar, Protégé
"The Mentor Program affords an excellent chance to structure a customized, informal, and comfortable learning experience. There are few occasions in our profession where one is able to leverage the broad-based corporate real estate and general management skills of experienced managers in a variety of real estate practice areas. The Mentor Program allows the Protégé to do just that: Focus on a practice area and set the agenda. It is a unique opportunity. "Chris Chandlee, Mentor
