Congratulations to winners of CoreNet Global’s Chicago Chapter Inaugural REAL Awards. These corporate real estate executives represent the best in service, expertise and commitment to excellence in their field and to the chapter.

Corporate Real Estate Executive of the Year:	Richard D. Wagner Director, Portfolio Management & Transactions, AT&T Services, Inc.
Service Provider of the Year:	Pat Turnbull MA, LEED AP, IFMA Fellow, President and COO, Kayhan International
Young Leader of the Year:	Tim Moran Associate AIA, Gensler

Submissions were judged by a panel of corporate real estate executives with global responsibilities and decades of experience in the industry.



Corporate Real Estate Executive of the Year:

Richard D. Wagner Director, Portfolio Management & Transactions AT&T Services, Inc.

Richard Wagner's leadership during his more than 30 years in the corporate real estate industry has taken on many forms, including many years as an active and involved CoreNet Global volunteer.  He has most recently demonstrated leadership and innovation through partnering with other AT&T corporate functions, specifically HR and IT, to form a strong framework for integrated workplace strategy.  This collaboration is well understood but often difficult to implement in reality without a highly effective and capable leader such as Richard.

More about Richard Wagner’s corporate real estate leadership:

• In May 2013 Richard accepted the position of Director PM&T, AT&T Corporate Real Estate. His current team of senior managers is responsible for the strategic portfolio planning of more than  60 million square feet of leased and owned real estate property in the Midwest, KY & TN. His team is also responsible for the buying, selling and leasing of real estate assets and managing a rent expense budget of over $115M.
• Prior to his current position Richard was the Director of Client and Workplace Strategies for AT&T, Richard lead a team of senior managers focused on the delivery of client relationship management services to AT&T’s 30 business units as well as the development and implementation of AT&T’s Evolving Workplace.
• Mr. Wagner has worked in the corporate and commercial real estate industry for over 30 years. He has held leadership positions in many real estate disciplines including property management, asset management, design and construction, project management, transactions and lease administration. He has presented at numerous CoreNet functions including Global Summits, Discovery Forums and Chicago Chapter luncheons.  He was a finalist for the 2000 Global Innovators Award.  He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from DePaul University, Chicago, IL and a Bachelor of Liberal Arts from Augustana College, Rock Island, IL.

Service Provider of the Year:

Pat Turnbull MA, LEED AP, IFMA Fellow President and COO Kayhan International

Pat Turnbull’s volume and significance of her involvement clearly shows a level of leadership and passion for the industry that cannot be faked. Pat leads her organization while staying "hands on" in the engagement and delivery to clients, staying engaged in the work on a routine basis, and as such, driving invention and innovation. Pat plays a leadership role in both sustainable design, and in leveraging workplace strategy to motivate employees and drive productivity. 

More about Pat Turnbull’s corporate real estate leadership from the service provider perspective:

• Pat’s CoreNet Global membership spans 9 years, beginning in 2004. At the most fundamental level, CoreNet Global provides a wonderful platform for industry advancement, knowledge sharing, volunteer leadership and, of course, rock star networking. Her involvement at the local level has included membership, sponsorship, ‘young professionals’ mentorship and program delivery.  Beyond her own membership, Pat has encouraged members of her staff to join and get involved, and Kayhan International has long been a Chicago Chapter sponsor.
• In 2012, Pat organized the ‘Panduit: In the Winner’s Circle with New High Performance Headquarters’ luncheon presentation and tour. This presentation focused on Panduit’s advanced building design, workplace strategy, innovative building system integration, and economic development work with the Village of Tinley Park. The presentation received high member survey scores.
• A true mark of the value of the CoreNet Global organization and program excellence delivered by the Chicago Chapter lies in the fact that members are learning, growing and then sharing knowledge within and beyond the association. Pat has parlayed the value of CoreNet Global to a global network with public engagements, teaching opportunities, publications and white paper development in order to advance the profession and support more informed and better equipped real estate, workplace and facility management professionals.

Young Leader of the Year

Tim Moran Associate AIA Gensler

Balancing volunteer leadership with professional accomplishment is critical in the early stages of a professional’s career.  Tim Moran has demonstrated leadership both in volunteer Chapter activities, as well as in his professional role at Gensler. An innovator at heart, Tim regularly identifies and leads new opportunities and initiatives to make contributions, delivers tangible results, and actively seeks opportunities to mentor others. Tim displays the qualities of a well-rounded leader, showing character beyond the boundaries of the CoreNet Global mission

More on Tim Moran’s corporate real estate leadership as a young professional:

• Tim has a broad range of experience within Gensler, having worked on high profile Workplace and Professional Service projects in Washington, D.C. and in Chicago.  In addition to project work, Tim represents his studio at the region’s Technical Director’s Meetings, serves on the Internship Committee, and participates in Gensler’s “gConnect” class, an internal marketing program for emerging professionals displaying leadership potential within the firm. He is a LEED Green Associate, and is in the midst of earning his AIA designation.
• Outside of the office, Tim is training for the Chicago Marathon as a member of Team PAWS, raising money for the Lincoln Park no - kill animal shelter. He is also an Associate member of the Chicago Chapter of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) and its Interior Architecture Committee, which organizes professional learning initiatives and networking events for locally based interior architects. Additionally, the AIA Chicago Chapter selected Tim as one of sixteen to take part in this year’s Chicago Bridge Program, a selective mentorship program that pairs local members of the AIA College of Fellows and the Young Architects Forum.
• As a member of the CoreNet Global Chicago Chapter, Tim serves on the Young Leaders Committee and the Membership Committee. Over the past year on the Young Leaders Committee, Tim has helped organize the 2012 Fall Speed Mentorship event, the 2013 Spring Mentorship Event – Crain’s 40 Under 40, and the 2014 Summer Charity Event. He also created the “Chicago Chapter Guide,” a recruiting document that explains CoreNet Chicago and highlights the benefits of membership for potential Young Leaders. Based on positive feedback about the Chicago Chapter Guide, Tim adopted it as a recruitment tool for the entire Chapter.
