2022 - Reaching higher

CoreNet Global Australia embracing the change in our industry

2022 has already got off to an amazing start. After two years of delays, we were finally able to host our annual conference at the Hilton in Sydney on 2 March 2022. It was a huge success with particularly strong feedback for Michael McQueen’s keynote, Anita Mitchell’s presentation on the NSW Government approach to placemaking, and, as always, our Young Leaders and the REd talks. It was fantastic to have such a positive atmosphere at the networking events and bring together such an incredible calibre of speakers.

And the great news? Our signature event executive, Caroline Boyce, isn’t getting a rest! We’re rising to the challenge of running a second conference in 2022, with planning underway for a Melbourne event on 14 September. We look forward to sharing more details of this soon. We know it’s going to be yet another value-packed event.

Of course, the one constant in life is change, and that’s the case with our executive team. After many years of service, David Burton is stepping down from his executive role and we’d like to thank him for all the time and energy he’s put in.

In addition, Liz Hoehnke is stepping down as Membership Executive and Melanie Kurzydlo will be handing over her role as Sponsorship Executive. Both are remaining as committee members, joining our Inclusion, Diversity and Education team. We look forward to the new focus they’ll be able to bring to this new and important committee.

Our new incoming executive team members are:

  • Gary Traynor as Membership Executive: as an end-user at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Gary will bring a fresh focus of what our industry members need.
  • Ashley Casey as Sponsorship Executive: Ashley previously stood in this role while Melanie was on maternity leave and will no doubt bring a unique mix of experience and fresh ideas.

We’re continuing to celebrate being named the Chapter of the Year globally, but that doesn’t mean we’re resting on our laurels. The team remains committed to continuous improvement and experimenting with new ideas, including our new debate series which will launch soon.

We’ll also be following our MCR scholarship recipient, Ujwal Lakra and look forward to sharing more of his experiences over the coming months.

As always, all the executive and committee members are driven by a clear focus: to provide the best industry membership experience that evolves in response to our community needs. If you have feedback or ideas on how we can deliver more value and better meet your needs, please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts.

2022 is packed with potential and we can’t wait to find more ways to contribute to your professional success.
