We are on the brink of a major technology revolution that will fundamentally alter the way we live, work and relate to one another.  This revolution has been coined the Fourth Industrial Revolution by the World Economic Forum and is characterised by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres.

In this year’s symposium, we want to look beyond buildings and understand what the implications are of these physical, digital and biological trends.  We also want to understand how humans will fit into this new world order and how we build and foster human connections. The way we think about buildings and the urban environment will change as we move through the 21st century.  We are excited to bring together a range of speakers who will share their views on a variety of topics beyond buildings to prepare us for the fourth industrial revolution.

Australia welcomes new Chapter Chair Maria Russo-Fama
2018 Annual Conference speech

"Preeti, on behalf of the Australia Chapter we thank you for you leadership over the last two years.

You have encouraged us all to think outside the square and then some …. Your enthusiasm for innovation has been infectious and your leadership, even virtually has given us all the opportunity to learn and grow. You introduced us to the world of “hackathons” - together with our sponsors we have now successfully executed 2 “hackathons” – I along with many others hadn’t even heard the word “hackathon” 2 years ago.

I personally have learnt so much from you and I have particularly enjoyed your enthusiasm and conviction to grow the chapter. I look forward to your valuable guidance over the next two 2 years.

To reiterate Preeti’s words - The CoreNet Australia Chapter is led by an extraordinary team of volunteers, Volunteers that are all in full time management positions. And if they aren’t busy enough with their day jobs they then volunteer their “spare time” to bring us days like today. Thank you.

Earlier this year we held a FutureForward workshop inviting you, our members to help shape the future of the association but what was fascinating was how much it resonated with our personal lives – Connect, learn, grow and belong are our pillars but they are also fundamental needs as individuals. Together with the notes from the workshop that you were part of – we as a committee will go in to our annual conference and start the planning for 2019.

The planning on how we can help you connect with your peers, feed your appetite to learn, foster that sense of belonging, grow as leaders and future leaders together.

On a global level we are listening too and I’m excited to announce a first for Australia - we will be launching our 2019 MCR cohort in November with an information night to give you an opportunity to understand the program better.

Thank you for joining us here today and I really look forward to growing CoreNet Global Australia Chapter over the next two years with you."
