John Pienaar, the BBC’s Senior Political Correspondent, presented the UK Chapter Awards at the inaugural Breakfast held at the Institute of Directors on Tuesday 27 November 2012.

A total of £1069.20 was raised from donations at the breakfast for LandAid. LandAid is the property charity for young disadvantaged children.

Tony Buckham of HSBC, Britain’s largest bank, was appointed Global Head of corporate real estate in 2010, from his previous role as Chief Technology and Services Officer. Sponsored by Qube Global Software, the Award was presented to Matt Robertson, CBRE – for the Benchmarking & Opportunity Spotting System, designed to automate and industrialise the portfolio optimisation process for occupiers.
Matt Robertson of CBRE created the BOSS system to help optimise large global portfolios quickly. Incorporating sophisticated algorithms to suggest key decisions for buildings across an international portfolio, the BOSS system produces analysis in days rather than months. This saving in time gives momentum to strategy as well as substantially reducing costs.
Significant Contribution to Corporate Real Estate Award
The Significant Contribution to Corporate Real Estate Award was presented to Philip Ross, CEO of UnGroup and Cordless Consultants. He has been writing and thinking about technology and the workplace for the last 20 years and, in doing so, has helped many leading occupiers to achieve substantial performance and productivity improvements. In short, he has encouraged us to transform our buildings into productive workplaces.

The Young Person’s Essay Award, sponsored by Deloitte was won by Andrew Jefford, M2J.
