I started my career as a graduate with the Japanese multinational NEC Technologies UK at their European Mobile Phone Research & Development centre in Reading to launch the first 3G mobile phone in the UK. I then joined an SME called cereno, between 2009-2015, to lead the R&D of their flagship virtual collaborative workplace solution nuVa and take it to market. My passion for innovation and collaboration led me to take on a role recently at National Grid as an Innovation Specialist. I am part of a team which performs a central role in the future of the Electricity System Operations, involved in identifying those technologies that are likely to have a material impact on the business, whether they create new opportunities or are game changers for existing activities.

In 2013 after being awarded a regional bursary, I started a part-time PhD at the University of Reading (within the School of Construction Management and Engineering) to explore the strategic management of virtual collaboration technologies and collaborative spaces for teams running complex projects and how these will influence the future workplace and work practices. My research is exploring physical and virtual spaces in which people and technology come together to get things done and how the organisational culture, design of the spaces and project and team dynamics influence how such spaces are used with an aim to develop a framework to help manage their design and lifecycle.
